Prepaid VISA Travel Money,

Better Than A Travelers Check

Now that it’s summer and the time for vacations and travel, remember that your credit union offers VISA Travel Money cards for just $4 each. The Travel Money card is a prepaid debit card that allows you to make purchases at merchants, get cash at ATMs and reload funds (unlimited). These cards are ideal for vacations or for someone that just wants to carry a card instead of cash. It offers Purchase Security, Travel & Emergency Assistance, Lost Luggage Reimbursement, and is accepted at thousands of locations worldwide. Initial loads for your card can be funded by bringing cash or by withdrawing from your savings or share draft account at the credit union. You may add subsequent loads via the website: www.cumoney.com. Cards can be loaded with a minimum of $100 and up to $5,000.  Funds loaded at the time of purchase at the credit union will be available to the member in 24 hours or less.  A three business day hold will be placed on funds loaded via www.cumoney.com. Members may call the VRU (Virtual Response Unit) for Balance Inquiry, Transaction History, Report Card Lost or Stolen, and to change the PIN. 10 automated calls to the VRU are free per month, on the 11th call the card will be charged $0.50 cents.  For unlimited use, free of charge, use the website www.cumoney.com for Balance Inquiry, Transaction History, Statement, Change PIN, and Reload Funds.

                                      

                                       On June 13th, KVCCU                                             made an update to our                                          Debit/ATM card system

that will effect how your debit card transactions appear on your account.

 

Our Debit/ATM cards are now “live” and will debit your account immediately. What this means is that any debit or ATM transaction that you perform will come through our system immediately and debit your account. Up until now, when a debit card transaction was made, it had taken up to 3 days for the transaction to be reflected in your account and now, with this update, your account will reflect your available balance almost immediately. (While there may be some merchants that take some time to send over the transactions, most will hit your account immediately.) This change in our system also means you will be able to do a balance inquiry of your account when at an ATM.

 

In addition, when an account is overdrawn, the card will automatically be inactive and any transactions will be denied. The card will remain inactive until the account is brought into a positive standing. Members will also no longer have to call KVCCU in order to get their Debit/ATM card reactivated as it will activate automatically.

New Scam Alert!

 

Kaskaskia Valley Community Credit Union has become aware of a scam that has occurred in the area of individuals cashing fraudulent checks drawn off of local business accounts. To ensure that our members are protected from any type of scam such as this one, we will be taking our precautions a step further when a non-member brings in a check to cash that is drawn off of a member’s account. Besides our normal procedures of identifying the non member, we will also be calling the member who has written the check to verify that the member did, in fact, write a check to the non member. If you have any questions in regards to this scam alert, please do not hesitate to contact the staff!
